Workspaces

A user can create one or more workspaces to meet their requirements and name them by defining their _userType property.

As an analogy, a DIY enthusiast might have a garage workspace where they keep vehicles, vehicle parts, and tools for vehicle maintenance and repair. That same person could also have a garden shed workspace for gardening equipment, soil, and seeds, and a workshop workspace with hardware tools, nails, screws, and building materials, such as timber.

Workspaces are namespace providers, which means when a workspace is created, it also creates a Namespace to group the workspace's resources under a single point of reference.

For more information on other namespace providers, see the following concepts:

Passport service permissions#

The Passport service uses workspaces to manage permissions on grouped resources.
