Permissions Introduction

Permissions define what data (or resources) and actions a user has access to in Twinit. With Twinit a user has no permissions to any data (or resources) or actions until you provide them permission by either creating permissions for their user or assigning them to a user group to which you have assigned permissions.

You can manage permissions at two levels in Twinit: by user and by user group. When granting permissions to a user or user group you grant a set of allowed actions to a specific data (or resource), a type of data (or resource), or a set of resources.

This chapter will walk through:

  • How permissions in Twinit work
  • How to understand and identify resources for the different Twinit services
  • What the different actions are that you can give a user or user group access to
  • The anatomy of a permission object
  • How permissions are determined for a user
  • How to create, edit, and delete permissions assigned to users and user groups
