Namespace

Overview of namespaces#

All resources on the platform must point to a namespace. The main purpose of a namespace is to provide a data container which is secure.

Namespaces are unique strings which enable you to easily group and set permissions for resources, such as collections and files. This means that you can group resources from different services under one reference point.

The diagram below shows resources from various platform services referencing a namespace.

Namespaces and namespace providers#

A namespace is automatically created when you create a namespace provider, such as an application, workspace, or user group. For more information, see Namespace providers.
